Two knocked on the door this morning and woke me up. They laughed at me and told me they'd come back later. I was too tired to do the whole Atheist vs Theologian conversation so I just took their flyer and tried to go back to bed.
One of the two, had come round a couple months ago. I spoke to him for about 20 to 30 minutes.
He just went on about how the bible hasn't changed for thousands of years.
I went on about how it has changed as it's been translated from Hebrew to Latin to English to French to English and how it's been lengthened and shorten.
How it wasn't actually written by God but people who said god spoke to them.
How mankind has changed since the time it was written and book with the mind set of mankind 1000 years ago isn't relevant today.
He then went on about how the Bible made accurate predictions, giving examples.
I said that the predictions were pretty vague and if anyone was to make a certain amount of predictions, then one or two are bound to come true.
How predicting accurately doesn't prove that there's a god, it just proves they were good at predicting things.
By that point he realised he was wasting his time went on his.
But today he came back with a friend! If I was as angry as I was tired I would of sorted them out, good and proper. I don't mind people trying to sell me things for charity or trying to get me to give money to a charity because that, theoretically, will help someone else. Jehovah's Witness knock on my door as though I need help. I'm not asking for help and I don't need help. I've told many of them that I get by fine in life without religion, I understand why some people need it but it's not for me, but they just don't get it.
They always give me a leaflet thing. Do they have to do that? Is that part of being a Jehovah's Witness?
I don't care if someone is Christian, Muslim, Jew, Sikh, Chinese, African, Norwegian, Homosexual, tall, short, fat, skinny or anything, as long as they respect others around them. Therefore, when I say 'Sorry, no thank you, I'm not interested' to a stranger I expect them to be as equally mannered and say 'OK, sorry to bother you'. That's not hard, is it? To respect each other?

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't just annoying on a Saturday morning; they can be downright deceitful. Want to hear an actual Bible study conducted with Jehovah's Witnesses?
Hi, I'm the author of "Out of the Cocoon: A Young Woman's Courageous Flight from the Grip of a Religious Cult" and heavily involved post-Watchtower world in counter-cult education. I also produce an internationally read newsletter for cult survivors.
Buyer beware of "nice" people who come to your door peddling paradise! I lost my family over 27 years ago to this insidious group. Check out my "Bible" study with Jehovah's Witnesses at http://www.outofthecocoon.net
